4 Steps For Changing Your Diet For Good
With any new year, we're always looking for ways to purge our bad diets and bad habits. While reflecting on years prior and starting our new goals, it's important to slow down to ensure lasting progress for months to come. If you're looking to start fresh, these 4 steps will help you change your diet for good.
1. Make a plan & be specific
Select a goal that is best for you and be realistic and specific. This may not be the huge end goal that you should choose, but you're more likely to succeed with something attainable at the present moment and work yourself up.
Make sure to iron out how you're going to get there. Plan out your options. To say, 'I'm going to work out more' won't help you. Coming up with concrete details of how and when are the key.
2. Tackle a mini-goal each week
Remember that plan you made? Now start tackling these mini-steps. Each mini-step will add to your major change. For example, if you want to eat more vegetables, try a new veggie each day or week until you have your favorites to keep in your daily diet.
With mini-goals being achieved, you'll be more positive and encouraged to continue on to your bigger goals.
3. Be realistic
This is one of the biggest mistakes people make. Don't think that your diet and health are going to change overnight. Stay on track and take it one step at a time. Don't expect to much from yourself too soon. Take it slow and ensure you're tackling those mini-goals to ensure success.
4. Practice stress management
Stress is around every corner, especially with the external stress of the world around us. Make sure you're managing your stress efficiently through exercise, meditation or whatever works for you so you're not falling back into any bad habits you're wanting to get rid of.
